Safe Drop Parcel Delivery

Australia Post use this term "Safe Drop Parcel Delivery" to describe the delivery of a parcel to a "safe location" when the addressee is not at home and the parcel does not require a signature on delivery. The Australia Post delivery person will leave a card in the letterbox with a description of where the parcel has been left at the address on the parcel given for delivery.

Q: What happens if addressees do not want parcels "safe dropped"?
A: Addressees can request parcels to be sent using either a signature service such as Receipted Delivery, or request a DO NOT SAFE DROP label is attached to parcel prior to sending. 

Q: What happens if the addressee cannot find parcels that have been Safe Dropped?
A: Call the Customer Contact Centre on 1300 857 828, to initiate an enquiry.

Q: What if addressees want parcels left in a different "safe location"?
A: The addressee should contact the Australia Post Customer Contact Centre on 1300 857 828 who will advise the Delivery Centre/Parcel contractor.

Q: Where will the notification card be left?
A: The Safe Drop notification card should always be placed in the addressee's letterbox.

Q: If parcel are not being safe dropped at an address, what can be done to include the address?
A: It may be deemed that there is not a "safe location" at the address in which to leave non-signature parcels.  The addressee can create a safe location that they are comfortable is not visible from the street or in public view and is not likely to be impacted by adverse weather.  This location should be communicated to the Australia post Customer Contact Centre on 1300 857 828.
